GOODYEAR, Ariz. - For the second time in as many weeks, Santa Clara women's golf is bringing home a tournament championship trophy! The Broncos completed their time at the Bobcat Desert Classic on Tuesday by holding off Northern Arizona to win the team title at 27-over 294-298-300--892 for their second-straight win. Prior to last week, the Broncos had not won a tournament title since 2018.
It was once again Claire Choi who led not only the team, but the entire field en route to her second-straight individual title. The senior from Honolulu entered Tuesday's final round with a seven-stroke advantage and carded a 2-over 74 to hold on to medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 2-under 68-72-74--214. Choi led the tournament wire-to-wire and finished six strokes ahead of Weber State's Aerin Song (4-over 200) for the title.
Freshman Borina Sutikto used an even-par final round to lock up a tie for third place, tying for her best finish of the season. The Fremont native now has four top-10 finishes on the year.
Lauren Shew had her best round of the week on Tuesday with a 2-over 74 to finish in a tie for 10th at 11-over 227. It is her second top-10 finish this season after also tying for 10th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
