MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - The highlights were many for Santa Clara women's golf following the completion of their first day at The Beach Invitational in Mission Viejo, Calif. Play was suspended today due to darkness and course conditions but the Broncos were still able to get the First Round in as well as 11 holes of the Second Round in.

Inara Sharma, who fired an opening round 5-over 77, provided the biggest moment of Day One as she made a hole-in-one on the 129-yard third hole, fittingly titled 'La Gran Laguna' as players are tasked with carrying their tee balls over a body of water. Audrey Brust proved to have the best overall performance for the Broncos as she opened with a 3-over 75 and is 3-over in her second round so far, placing her in tied-8th currently. Lauren Shew was not too far behind with an opening round 7-over 79 while Borina Sutikto had a First Round 10-over 82 and is 2-over in her Second Round. Claire Choi wasn't able to gain much momentum on Day One as she shot a 12-over 84.

The Broncos are sitting in solo fifth place of the 15-team field as they shot a 25-over 313 and are only 11-over as a team after their partial play of the Second Round. Colorado State tops the team leaderboard at the moment as they are with an overall score of 26-over. Santa Clara will resume play of the Second Round followed by the Final Round with another shotgun start at 8:00 am PST tomorrow.
