Softball Loses Midweek Tilt at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford scored in each inning en route to an 8-0 five inning run-rule victory over Santa Clara softball on Tuesday night in a nonconference tilt.

The Cardinal (24-9) jumped on Bronco pitching with a run each in the first two frames, followed by a two run third, a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Stanford collected 11 hits against Santa Clara starter Regan Dias and reliever Liyah Lopez.  Taylor Gindlesperger, Kaitlyn Lim and starting pitcher Alana Vawter each had two hits while Sydney Steele and Vawter both had two RBIs.

In the circle, Vawter (15-4) allowed just two hits, struck out six and did not issue a walk over five frames to earn a complete game victory.

Ashley Trierweilver and Lauren LaHood had a hit apiece for the Broncos (14-21).

Dias (2-7) gave up nine hits, five runs, four earned, over four innings in the loss.
