NOTES
  • Santa Clara hosts San Diego in the final home series of the season for a three-game series starting on Saturday.
  • Three Bronco seniors will be recognized on Senior Day on May 8 - RHP Lauren Anderson, C Sarah Ellersick, and RHP Liyah Lopez.   
  • The Broncos are coming off a loss to San José State in a nonconference game on Wednesday.  
  • SCU is 9-8 at home this season.  
  • San Diego is 4-8 in true road games.   
  • Since March 13, the Broncos have played just four home games. 
  • Santa Clara's 18 wins this season is the most since 2006 when they won 24 games.      
  • Among the league leaders (as of May 5):  
    • OF Ashley Trierweiler: first in hits (61); first in batting average (.407); second in stolen bases (17); fifth in on-base percentage (.454).  
      • Trierweiler currently has a team-high 17-game hit streak during which time she is batting .474 (27-for-57).
      • She has twice been named WCC Player of the Week this season.  
    • INF Emma Bickford: tied for third in doubles (11)
    • INF Allyson Ferreira: first in sacrifice bunts per game (0.19)
    • RHP Sage Hager: first in walks allowed per seven innings (0.51), a mark that's good for second in the nation; third in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.33); second in ERA (1.69)
    • RHP Hannah Edwards: fourth in walks allowed per seven innings (1.69)    
  • 2022 overall statistics entering the tournament.  
  • SCU, under third-year head coach Gina Carbonatto, entered the season picked to finish fourth in the West Coast Conference as voted on by the six conference head coaches. 
  • Santa Clara finished the 2021 campaign with an 8-20 record including 5-10 in WCC play.
  • A full schedule is on the docket for the 2022 season.  Among the 51 regular season games, 20 will be played at Santa Clara Softball Stadium, 18 true road games and 13 neutral site contests.  The Broncos will play seven games against four teams – BYU, Fresno State, Iowa State and Stanford – that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.  
  • The Broncos field an experienced squad with 15 returnees including 13 that played in 2021 and two that last played in 2020.  
  • Six newcomers dot the roster - Lauren BrysonAbigail CharpentierSage HagerKelsi RiceMorgan Salmon and Nina Taylor.
  • The top three hitters from 2021 return - Ashley Trierweiler (program record .481 batting average), Emma Bickford (.329) and Allyson Ferreira (.282).  Sammy Needham, who hit .394 in 2020 but did not play last season returns in 2022. 
  • Trierweiler and Bickford were named preseason All-WCC as vote on by the league's six head coaches.  
  • In the circle, the Broncos return all five pitchers from 2021 plus Hannah Edwards who last pitched in 2020 where she appeared in 11 games, going 3-6 with a 3.31 ERA.    
SCHEDULE
The 2022 schedule features games against four teams - BYU, Fresno State, Iowa State and Stanford - that qualified for the 2021 NCAA Tournament.  Among the 51 regular season games, 20 will be played at Santa Clara Softball Stadium, 18 true road games and 13 neutral site contests.  2022 schedule release.

Season, group, tournament day passes and single game tickets on sale at https://scubroncos. universitytickets.com or contact the ticket office in the Leavey Center on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (408) 554-4660 or BroncoTickets@scu.edu  Gates to the Santa Clara Softball Stadium, as well as its ticket booth, are open one hour prior to the start of the first game each day.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start of the first game.  Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations).  Fans should utilize the main parking structure if the Leavey lot is full.
