Emma Bickford Tabbed WCC Softball Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. – For the second time this season, a Santa Clara softball player was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week.  This time graduate student Emma Bickford was recognized, as announced by the league office on Monday. 

In three games last week, Bickford was retired just once in 11 plate appearances going 7-for-8 with four RBIs, hit by a pitch twice to go along with a sacrifice fly.  She finished with a slashline of .875/.818/1.125 to lead the Broncos to a 2-1 record. 

Bickford currently sits tied for sixth in the league with 17 RBIs. 

In the first game of the week last Monday, the right-handed hitting Bickford went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the 6-5 loss to Rhode Island in the doubleheader opener.  In the backend game, she went 1-for-1 and drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the 8-0 shutout victory. 

Against Dartmouth in a midweek contest, Bickford finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in the 5-0 win. 

It is the first such honor for Bickford.

The Broncos next play on March 29 at Fresno State.
