SAN MATEO, Calif. – Ashley Trierweiler has been named West Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week, the third time a Bronco was recognized for the award this season.
Lauren LaHood and Emma Bickford were tabbed league Player of the Week back in February and March.
In two games last week against Fresno State, Trierweiler posted a slashline of .857/.889/1.286 as she safely reached base in eight of nine plate appearances, including seven-straight. She went 6-for-7 with a walk and getting hit by a pitch to help lead the Broncos to a doubleheader split on the road.
The centerfielder went 5-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, two stolen bases and scored three times in the doubleheader opening 12-10 win . Her diving catch in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs in a tie game helped send the game to extra innings. Treierweiler finished a home run shy of the cycle with three singles, a double and a triple.
In the backend of the doubleheader, she went 1-for-2 in the Broncos 5-4 loss. The redshirt junior had a single and a walk in her first two plate appearances to safely reach base in seven-straight PAs. The base hits in each game extended her hit streak to 20 games and pushed her batting average to .529 on the year, which currently sits in second place among all Division I hitters.
It is the third time Trierweiler has been named WCC Player of the Week, having twice won it last season.
The Broncos next play on Wednesday against Nevada in a home doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m PT.
