SCU 1 of Just 2 WCC Schools to Receive NCAA Public Recognition Award Eight Straight Years; 4 Bronco Teams Honored This YearJune 06, 2013Santa Clara University was joined by Gonzaga University as the only two school’s from the West Coast Conference to earn Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. The Public Recognition Award was given to 61 schools who placed at least one team on the list each of the past eight years. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent plus ties in each sport. In addition, this year four Bronco teams were honored for their APR's: women's tennis, women's outdoor track, women's rowing and women's water polo.

Le Wins School's First-Ever NCAA Singles Championship Match; Advances to Play No. 3 Seed At 6 AM Pacific ThursdayMay 22, 2013Winning the school’s first-ever individual match at the NCAA Singles Championships, Santa Clara junior and Milpitas, Calif. native No. 26 Katie Le defeated No. 30 Emina Bektas of No. 10 Michigan 7-6(3), 7-5 in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. Le is 22-12 this season and Bektas finishes at 24-9.

Chelby Cooke Reflects On First Bronco Tennis SeasonMay 14, 2013SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With four seniors graduating from the team this year, the women’s tennis team is looking to younger members to fill big shoes. Four Women's Tennis Players and Head Coach Receive All-WCC HonorsApril 30, 2013With four players named All-WCC, Santa Clara University's women's tennis head coach Ben Cabell was also named the league's Co-Coach of the Year. Based on overall season performance and the results from the WCC Championships, Katie Le grabbed First-Team in Singles along with Jessica Agra for Second-Team in Doubles. Le will find out on May 1 if she has received a NCAA bid to the Tournament. Kelly Lamble and Chelby Cooke were both named All-WCC Honorable Mention in Singles.

Senior Maggie McGeorge Reflects On SCU Tennis CareerApril 23, 2013SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With the West Coast Conference Championships being played this week, senior Maggie McGeorge (MM) is excited about finishing her SCU tennis career on a high note. The women’s tennis team went 11-9 overall and 7-1 in conference this year. McGeorge put up a 6-3 record overall in doubles with her partner Kelly Lamble. The two have proved to be very successful together over their four years of playing doubles together. She received back-to-back WCC honorable mentions her freshman and sophomore year for her doubles play with Lamble. SantaClaraBroncos.com had the chance to talk to McGeorge about her overall experience here at Santa Clara University, both on and off the tennis court, and how her injury midway through last season has not broken her spirit.
