MORAGA, Calif. – Nadine Del Carmen advanced to the semifinals of the singles B consolation bracket at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Saturday as part of nine total wins picked up by Santa Clara women's tennis.
Del Carmen beat Sacramento State's Paige Alter, 7-6(3), 7-5, and Pacific's Georgia Townsend, 6-0, 6-0 in the second day of the tournament. She will next face another Pacific player, Anna Ramos Vinolas in Sunday's semifinal round.
The Bronco junior also teamed with Lindsey Pesqueira in the voluntary consolation doubles bracket to beat the Pacific tandem of Townsend and Hannah Ketcherside, 8-2, for her third win of the day to lead the team.
Elvena Gevargiz, Maddie Pothoff and Lyndsay Lynch each earned two wins winning a singles as well as a doubles match.
In the singles A draw, Jamie Schroer lost to Cal's Katerina Stloukalova, 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16.
The SMC Invitational concludes on Sunday.
