  • Santa Clara travels to Arizona for an early season non-conference tournament for the first time since 2008, when the team went 3-0 at the Arizona Invitational, beating Texas Tech, Texas State and host Arizona. The Broncos went to the NCAA Tournament that season.
  • Santa Clara opened its 2022 season last weekend in Athens, Ga., going 1-2 at the University of Georgia's Classic City Clash. It was the second time in four years the Broncos played a tournament east of the Mississippi River (2019, Bloomington, Ind.)
  • The Broncos won their season-opening match on Friday versus Chattanooga, and are now 2-2 all-time in season openers under head coach Erin Lindsey. They are also 5-5 in season-opening tournaments since 2019
  • Santa Clara was one percentage point shy of hitting .300 as a team (.299) last weekend. Julia Sangiacomo led the offense with 44 kills and a .380 hitting percentage. Nani Spaar hit .403 with 29 total kills. Kat Georgiadis averaged 3.18 digs per set.
  • Santa Clara was picked fifth in the West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll with 45 points, ahead of Pacific (6th, 42 points), Saint Mary's (7th, 37), Gonzaga (8th, 26), Portland (9th, 17) and San Francisco (10th, 9).
  • The Broncos return 12 players from last year's roster, including three-time all-WCC honoree Julia Sangiacomo, who was selected to the 2022 Preseason All-WCC First Team on Wednesday.
  • Head coach Erin Lindsey is in her fourth season with the Broncos in 2022. Friday's win over Chattanooga was the 93rd of her career as an NCAA head coach, leaving her only seven victories away from her 100th career win.
