Women's Water Polo Drops Two Contests at Home

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo team dropped two decisions to nationally ranked opponents Saturday, falling in the morning, 16-5, in a Golden Coast Conference matchup against No. 13 Pacific, then suffering a 16-0 nonconference setback versus No. 15 Harvard in the afternoon at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

vs. No. 13 PACIFIC

The Broncos (7-14, 0-4 GCC) scored in all four periods against the No. 13 Tigers (16-5, 2-1 GCC). Pacific's high-powered offense scored at least three goals in all four periods, pulling away in the second by outscoring Santa Clara, 4-1, to lead 9-3 at halftime.

The Broncos had five different goal scorers in their first game of the day. Lauren Baglietto, Elle Fredrickson, Francesca Moynihan, Chloe Morrison and Harper Daniels all scored for Santa Clara. Baglietto also added two assists, while Kate Rodman grabbed three steals. Liyara Senadheera made 16 saves in goal.

Hila Futorian, Szamira Koppány and Brianna Utas all scored three goals each to lead Pacific.

vs. No. 15 HARVARD

Zoe Banks made 19 saves in net for the Crimson (17-4, 1-1 CWPA), as the Broncos peppered her with 29 shots throughout the match. Maddie Clough swiped two steals and Liyara Senadheera made seven saves as the Broncos' goalie.

Harvard was led by three goals from both Ella Prentice and Dany Zapata.
