Six Seniors Honored at Women's Water Polo's Home Finale

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo team honored its six seniors playing in their final home games at Sullivan Aquatic Center Saturday, and they got a few contributions from them along the way while facing No. 8 Fresno State, who came away with a 17-4 victory in Golden Coast Conference play.

Santa Clara (10-19, 1-6 GCC) recognized Lauren Baglietto, Natalie Brauser, Harper Daniels, Georgia Lewis, Halley Seed and Lauren Voss in a pregame ceremony Saturday. Seed scored a team-high two goals in her final home game at Sullivan, and Voss added another. Chloe Morrison was the other goal scorer for the Broncos, giving them four on the day.

No. 8 Fresno State (15-8, 7-0 GCC) was led by Jillian Schultz with four goals.

The Bulldogs scored five goals in the first period while the Broncos got their first goal from Voss, making it 5-1 after one. Fresno State had a 3-0 advantage in the second period to lead, 8-1, at halftime. Three of Santa Clara's four goals came in the second half, with Morrison turning hers in midway through the third, and Seed scoring both of Santa Clara's final two goals.

The Broncos next travel to San Diego from Friday to April 30 for the 2023 GCC Championship, being hosted at San Diego State's Aztec Aquaplex. They'll be the No. 7 seed in the tournament and face No. 2 seed and No. 17 nationally ranked LMU at noon Friday.
