Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Brendan Ecklebarger
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the sixth member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season, Brendan Ecklebarger.  The six-foot-two, left-handed pitcher currently attends Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington.

"I chose Santa Clara because as soon as I stepped on campus I felt at home. I immediately fell in love with every facet of the world-class institution and the people that call it home. The coaching staff is second to none, the facilities are state of the art, and the campus is beautiful. But most importantly, the staff and students are genuine and authentic people, that are not only driven to succeed, but to also do it the right way. I cannot wait to become a Bronco and start my journey at such an amazing school," said Ecklebarger.

In his prep career, the 2016 graduate of Redmond High School in Redmond, Washington, Ecklebarger was a team captain during his junior and senior seasons.  A 2015 Area Code selection and participant of the Royals Northwest team, Ecklebarger was named 2016 Rawlings Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American as well as 2015 All-USA Today Washington second teamer.

"Brendan is a left-handed pitcher who was at the University of Washington as a freshman and transferred to a community college.  He can throw in the upper-80s and touch 90 with a really good slider.  Brendan is a strong-bodied player and a competitor.  We are looking forward to having him here at Santa Clara," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.

At Washington, Ecklebarger made 11 appearances, all out of the bullpen while compiling a 2-0 record with a 0.84 ERA.  He recorded nine strikeouts over 10.2 innings.

Ecklebarger's father, Kermit, was a college hockey player at the University of Denver and mother, Tracy, was a cheerleader for the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Quakers.

Our next future Bronco, Matt Erickson, will be announced the week of December 11.
