SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis earned two doubles victories on the second day of competition Bronco Invitational. Sophomore Madison Clarke also won her singles match at the Degheri Tennis Center.
"Today was good," Head coach Ben Cabell said. "We had some tougher matches, St. Mary's (CA) is a good team but overall I was happy with how we competed again. The girls did a good job today. I'm happy with where we are, we still have a lot of things to work on but we're where we should be."
Clarke knocked off Kareena Manji (St. Mary's) in singles play, 6-2, 6-2. She then partnered with senior Daniella Silva in doubles to defeat Tamara Culibrk and Gaelle Rey (San Jose State), 8-6.
"Madison Clarke had another nice win," Cabell said. "She's now 4-0 in this tournament and that's a great job by her. That's awesome."
Sophomore Elizabeth Stephens and freshman Caitlyn Frankel won their doubles match against Sara Korzeniecki and Carlijn Ketting (Nevada), 8-5. Frankel also won, 6-2, 7-6 (2), in her singles match against Milena Achlamov (Nevada).

"I was really happy with doubles," Cabell said. "We started off slow but we picked it up towards the end and won two out of three doubles matches and that was good."
Competition begins at 9 a.m. PT at Degheri Tennis Center on Sunday.
