SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis lost to Nevada on Saturday afternoon by a score of 6-1 at Degheri Tennis Center. The Broncos earned a victory on court three in doubles and court two in singles but fell to 1-2 on the season.
"All the matches were close like I knew they would be," head coach Ben Cabell said. "We came up on the short end of a couple three setters. I'm actually pretty happy with how we played. We played tough against a good team."
Nevada (1-1) claimed the doubles point with wins on court one and two to start the day. Junior Zeina El Tawil and freshman Caitlyn Frankel won on court three for the Broncos, 6-3.
"We played better today than we did against Fullerton," Cabell said. "We have some things we need to keep working on but I like the trajectory of where we're going. I think they competed really well."
The Wolf Pack won on courts five and six then clinched the match victory on court three. Sophomore Madison Clarke upped her singles winning streak to six matches after a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win on court two over Sheila Morales.
Santa Clara returns to Degheri Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. PT against San Jose State and UC Davis at noon on Feb. 19.
