SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's tennis won its first WCC match of the season on Friday, defeating Pacific by a score of 5-1.
Santa Clara (6-7, 1-2 WCC) won the doubles point for the second straight match. The Broncos defeated Pacific (5-8, 0-3 WCC) on courts one and two to claim the point. Senior Nabila Farah and freshman Caitlyn Frankel picked up a 6-2 win on court two to get things started for SCU. Senior Daniella Silva and sophomore Madison Clarke won their sixth straight doubles match on court one by a score of 6-3 to clinch the doubles point.
Clarke earned a 6-0, 6-2 win on court one over Maayan Sela. Clarke improved her dual match play record to 10-1 on the year and has now won nine of her last 10 matches. Farah defeated Anna Ramos Vinolas by a score of 6-2, 6-3 on court three. Silva earned a 7-6, 7-6 win over Anneroos Nederstigt on court two. Junior Zeina El Tawil defeated Cristina Buruaga on court four by a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 for her second consecutive win and to clinch the victory for the Broncos.
