Men’s Golf Third Heading Into Final Round Of NIT

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Santa Clara men's golf team enters final round play Monday at the National Invitational Tournament in third place after scoring a 292 in Sunday's second round for an even-par total of 576. The event is being competed on the 7,200-yard, par-72 Omni National Catalina Course.

The Broncos are five shots behind Cal, who scored a 279 Sunday to take over the top spot on the team leaderborad, two shots better than New Mexico.

Hayden Shieh and Gio Gandionco both shot even-par 72 Sunday with Carlos Briones carding a 1-over 73. Shieh is tied for 12th at 143 (-1) with Briones and Gandionco tied for 19th at 144 (E).

Tyler kertson followed his first round 70 with a 75 on Sunday and is tied for 25th at 145 (+1). With rounds of 77 and 79 Drew Miller is 73rd at 156 (+12).

Iowa State's Scott Fernandez scored a 66 in Sunday's second round to take the top spot with an 8-under136, two strokes better than UTEP's Jere Pelletier entering the final round.
