Men’s Soccer Signs Olusina to 2017 Recruiting Class

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer announced the sixth member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, Isaac Olusina. The defender currently attends Archer High School and hails from Lawrenceville, Ga.

"I chose Santa Clara because the coaches have the same aspirations that I have," Olusina said. "The campus and facilities are also amazing."

Standing at 5-8, Olusina has played at right back and center back. He was named defensive player of the year twice in high school and earned all-region accolades as well. He played for the club Concorde Fire Elite 99 when not playing for his high school team.

"Isaac is a very athletic defender," head coach Cameron Rast said. "He's probably best suited to play in a wide position but has played centrally for his club and done a great job. He's a good leader and he's very athletic which allows him to cover a lot of ground. We're looking forward to seeing what his potential is in our program."

Olusina was also successful in the classroom as he was named a scholar athlete and was named to the honor roll. He is Nigerian, is passionate about music and is a self-proclaimed soccer cleat enthusiast. He will be pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and aspires to work with cars in-depth. He likes to play video games in his free time and listen to music.

"Isaac comes highly recommended," Rast said. "We've seen him play a number of times and he's a true warrior. He played through injuries so that we could evaluate him and we feel very fortunate to have him come to Santa Clara."
