In its final spring game of the year, Santa Clara men’s soccer played to a 2-2 tie vs. Stanford on May 24. As is the case in spring, Santa Clara had moments of solid play and moments where things didn’t go according to plan.
Harrison Hanley (HH), a junior from Oak Park, Calif. has been a big part of the men’s soccer team here at Santa Clara University. This season he helped SCU go 11-6-2 overall and 8-2-2 in WCC play. U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos has named a 22-player roster to participate in the 2013 Toulon Tournament from May 28-June 8 in Toulon, France. No stranger to the international scene on USA teams, Santa Clara rising sophomore Kendall McIntosh will represent the White, Red and Blue in goal.
With a long tradition of producing top talent on the international level, former Bronco men’s soccer player Anthony Chimienti scored a goal in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships for the U.S. The win qualified the U.S. for the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. In the midst of the spring season, Santa Clara men’s soccer hosted its 10th annual golf tournament at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose on April 29. Alumni and supports of the program came out in great numbers and enjoyed beautiful weather and great items up for action.

Jared Hegardt (JH), a freshman forward/midfielder from San Diego, has learned a lot from his older teammates in his first year as a member of the Santa Clara men’s soccer team. Hegardt gained key playing experience as a freshman, as he appeared in 15 games. He has really cherished being able to develop bonds with his teammates on and off of the field. Both of Hegardt’s parents are Santa Clara graduates and that definitely makes his college experience even more fulfilling. As part of its 2013 spring schedule, the Santa Clara men's soccer team will host its 10th annual golf tournament on Mon., Apr. 29 at Cinnabar Hills in San Jose, Calif. The tournament starts at 12:30 p.m. and is followed by a dinner and auction. This event is the only fundraiser that men's soccer organizes and the money raised goes directly into the operations of its program.
The Santa Clara men’s soccer team has announced its 2013 spring schedule and it features five games, including four at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncos are coming off of a 11-6-2 campaign in 2012 and have posted winning seasons in 24 out of the last 26 seasons. The 2013 season will mark Bronco head coach Cameron Rast's 12th as Santa Clara head coach. Rast owns a 125-64-40 career record leading the Broncos.

Continuing with their postseason accolades, seniors Erik Hurtado and Larry Jackson of the Santa Clara men’s soccer team have been invited to the Major League Soccer Player’s Combine (MLS) held Jan. 11-15 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Both players will showcase their talents in hopes of being selected in the MLS SuperDraft Jan. 17 in Indianapolis at 9 am Pacific.
Hurtado was named the 2012 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and Jackson was named the 2012 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year. Santa Clara is one of just 13 schools to have multiple players invited to the MLS Combine and the only school in the WCC to have anyone invited.
Following up on their West Coast Conference awards as the Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year, Erik Hurtado and Larry Jackson have both been named to the 2012 Continental Tires NSCAA All Far West Region Team. Hurtado was named to the All Far West Region First Team. Jackson was named to the Third Team. Hurtado collected the school's first NSCAA All-American honors since 2007 on Dec. 7 when he was named to the Third Team All-American.
