SANTA CLARA, Calif. –
Santa Clara University's Kendall McIntosh (Santa Rosa Calif./Sonoma Academy) is one of just two goalkeepers named to the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team roster for a week-long training camp from Jan. 14-22 in Puebla, Mexico.

Under the direction of head coach Tab Ramos, 20 of the best young soccer players nationwide will train and play a pair of closed-door exhibition matches against Panama, first on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. PT. at the Estadio Olímpico, and again on Monday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. PT at La Noria FC.

Puebla is the site of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, in which the team will be competing Feb. 18-March 3. The event serves as the qualifying tournament for the CONCACAF region and will determine the four regional berths to the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

"Going through World Cup qualifying is a great opportunity for Kendall to play games and train at an extremely high level," said SCU men's soccer head coach Cameron Rast. "At this point in the year having the chance to compete will help him develop and be better prepared for next year.  We wish him and the US team well."

At the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, the U.S. will face Costa Rica and Haiti in Group A, while Canada, Nicaragua and Cuba make up Group B. Group C is comprised of Jamaica, Panama and Puerto Rico, while Mexico, El Salvador and Curaçao make up Group D.

McIntosh joins an extensive list of former SCU Broncos to play with the U-20 National Team, which includes Coach Rast and recenlty-hired SCU men's soccer assistant coach Ryan Cochrane, among many others.

McIntosh came to SCU in the spring of 2012 as a five-star recruit and one of the top-ranked prep goalkeepers in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. McIntosh played behind the West Coast Conference's Goalkeeper of the Year this past fall, SCU senior Larry Jackson, appearing in just one match, making three saves against local rival San Jose State back on Sept. 9, 2012.

McIntosh has extended history representing the U.S. on its men's national teams. He has represented the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team at the Northern Ireland Milk Cup. He has also been part of the U-14 National Development Program and the U-15 Boys' National Team prior to residency with the U-17s. At the 2011 CONCACAF Championships in Jamaica, he helped the U.S. to a 3-2 win over El Salvador and pitched shutouts against Jamaica and Canada allowing the U.S. to move on to the FIFA World Cup in Mexico. Additionally, McIntosh made four international appearances in 2010, during his first season in residency.
