Women's Rowing Competes in Covered Bridge Regatta; Prepares for Redwood Shores
The Bronco women's rowing team traveled to Eugene, Oregon last weekend to take part in the Covered Bridge Regatta. Santa Clara traveled both the varsity and junior varsity teams. Santa Clara is taking the experience from these races and using it as they move forward as they race on April 20 against Saint Mary's and UCSD and against Mills on April 21.

Lohe's College Experience on the West Coast

Adrienne Lohe (AL) became a varsity women's crew member during the 2011-2012 season, and rowed as a novice for the Broncos her freshman year. With her athletic background in track and cross country, crew was a new sport to Lohe when she became a Bronco.

Women's Rowing and Cross Country to "Jog for Jill" October 13
Santa Clara women's rowing has a long history or giving back and helping the community. Continuing that tradition, the team will take part in "Jog for Jill" on Sat., Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. in Baylands Park, Sunnyvale, Calif. to raise money and awareness for lung cancer. The 5k walk/run will be co-hosted by Santa Clara cross country and will be held before the Santa Clara Bronco Invite.

Santa Clara Alum Headed to Olympics as Rowing Coach
After being cut from the Santa Clara basketball team by legendary coach Carroll Williams, Matt Madigan '91 didn't want to end his collegiate athletic career so he took up rowing. More than 20 years later Madigan will be headed the Olympics for the second time as a coach. He is the coach of the U.S. women's double sculls consisting of Sarah Trowbridge and Margot Shumway.

Women's Rowing Finishes Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships
In the final races before the West Coast Conference Championships May 12 and 13, Santa Clara women's rowing competed in six races at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Lake Natoma, Calif. over the weekend. The Broncos best finish was third place in the Women's Lightweight Four against three other teams. The Broncos time in that race was 8:18.7.

Laurel Schuster '11 Uses What She Learned Rowing at SCU in the Professional World
There are almost 50,000 college student-athletes each year and the overwhelming majority go on to jobs outside of playing professionally. Laurel Schuster '11 (LS) was on the women's rowing team during her time at Santa Clara University and is one of those who has gone on to the working world after competition. Facing one of the fastest teams in the West Coast Conference, Santa Clara women's rowing took on LMU on April 21 in the first annual dual meet between the two schools. This was the last race of the season for the Broncos before they go to the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships from April 28-29 and the WCC Championships from May 12-13. Balancing Sports with Job Hunting
Early mornings and long practice hours failed to interrupt Katie Caudle’s (KC) internship and job hunt. Balancing rowing with school paid off as Caudle landed a full-time job at Accenture after interning with the company prior to her senior year. WCC Announces Preseason Awards For Women's Rowing
San Diego has been selected as the favorite to win the West Coast Conference women's rowing championship in a preseason poll of the WCC's seven head coaches. The Toreros received four first place votes in the poll and Gonzaga received three (coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team). Gonzaga and San Diego have multiple selections on the Preseason All-WCC Team.
