Gearing up for the final races of the 2012 season, Santa Clara men's rowing competed in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on April 28 and 29. The Broncos finished the Men's 2nd Varsity Eight Petite race in first place and was runner-up in the Novice Eight Petite, but did not win the title because of finishes in the other races.
As the Santa Clara men’s rowing team wraps up their 2012 racing season, SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) sat down with Mark Bluth (MB) to talk about his season, training and future plans. Bluth, a sophomore from Seal Beach, Calif., competed with the Long Beach Junior Crew in high school and is currently on the Bronco varsity squad.

In the final races before the West Coast Conference Championships May 12 and 13, Santa Clara men's rowing competed in six races at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships in Lake Natoma, Calif. over the weekend. The Broncos best finish was first place in the Men's 2nd Varsity Eight Petite where they had a time of 6:21.1.
As the only female on an all male rowing team, junior Angelica Salinas has her hands full. Salinas played many sports in high school but upon entering college she wanted to mix things up and decided to join the rowing team. She has come a long way and is now helping to navigate the team through the championship race.
Santa Clara University men's and women's rowing competed in the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday and Sunday Mar. 31 and Apr. 1. In all the Broncos participated in nine races over the weekend. For complete results, click here.

While Santa Clara men's crew is still three weeks away from racing, the Broncos are gearing up for competition during their early morning training sessions at Lexington Reservoir. Crew is a demanding sport that involves not just the arms that row, but the legs that drive the boat and the rowers must get every muscle ready for a short race.
The Santa Clara University men’s crew team began its 2011-12 campaign strong, winning the Wine Country Classic held on the Petaluma River on Sunday, Oct. 23.
