Dana Kuwahara is in her fifth year and is currently serving as assistant athletic director, academic services. Kuwahara came to Santa Clara after working in academic and student services with UCLA football. Prior to her time at UCLA, she taught high school English and coached high school softball for six years — including four seasons as a head coach.
She is the primary liason for admissions. She is the academic advisor to women's basketball, baseball, men's rowing, and women's golf and sports supervisor for the men's and women's cross country, track & field and softball.
Kuwahara graduated from Cal State East Bay in 2005 with a Degree in English. She played two years of softball for the Pioneers following her two years at Long Beach City College. Kuwahara received a Master’s degree in Education from Pepperdine in 2007. She received her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership with a focus on Higher Educational Administration from the University of Southern California in 2018.
She started a non-profit organization seven years ago which works to support children with congenital heart disease.
Originally from Torrance, Calif., Kuwahara graduated from South High School. She currently lives in San Jose.
