SAN FRANCISCO/FRESNO, Calif.- The outdoor track team split into two separate teams for the weekend, participating at the SF State Distance Carnival in San Francisco and the Cal/Nevada Championships in Fresno.

In San Francisco, junior Noelle Lopez took a close second place in the 2 mile race with a time of 11:11.93. Later on Lopez placed fifth in the women's 800M with a time of 2:24.82. As for the men, sophomore Andy Backus ran in his first 10,000M race ever and placed sixth with a time of 32.54. Junior Ben Snyder also did well for the Broncos with a fifth place finish in the 2 mile (9:41.83).

The weekend was also successful for the Broncos competing at Fresno. Senior Michael Delaurenti won the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:22.32, his personal best for the year. Sophomore Alex Harkins was right behind Delaurenti, placing fifth overall with a career personal best time of 9:32.06. Senior Danielle Miller represented the Bronco women and took eighth placed in the steeplechase with an overall time of 11:18.39.

"We're very proud of our team right now with their performances this weekend," said head coach Tom Service, "Even after all of the craziness with finals and working around spring break trips, they performed very well."

This upcoming weekend the Broncos will be split up again, with Delaurenti and junior Veronica Vasquez competing at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, and the rest of the team running at the Chabot Distance Carnival in Hayward.
