Basketball's Busy Day includes Spirited Practice in Dallas, Meeting with Former Bronco Kurt Rambis

As Santa Clara worked to prepare for its CIT semi-final battle in Dallas vs. SMU on Fri., March 25 at 5 pm (Pacific), the Broncos had a 9 am wake-up call this morning after arriving at the hotel last night about midnight.  The team flew to Dallas late yesterday and is on spring break this week.

Breakfast at 10 am was followed by a film session and then the Broncos had a spirited practice early this afternoon at Moody Coliseum. Former Bronco and current SMU student Troy Alexander stopped by practice and was welcomed by coaches and staff alike with high fives, smiles and laughs.

After practice, the team and coaches stopped by the Minnesota Timberwolves hotel, in town to play the Mavs tonight, to say hello to former Bronco and current NBA head coach Kurt Rambis (on the far right of the photo).  Rambis greeted each player and staff member with a big handshake and a smile.  When Coach Keating introduced him to Kevin Foster, Kevin smiled when Coach Keating said he was chasing his points scored career mark and Rambis remarked "I hope you get it."

Rambis spoke to the team about what a great opportunity they had playing in the post-season as he never had the chance in college and said the memories they were making right now would last a lifetime.  He was very well received by the players and the staff alike.

After the team left the hotel, they drove the route where John F. Kennedy was assassinated with very insightful narration from both the bus driver and assistant coach Dustin Kerns, a history buff.  The players were equally impressed with it as many tweeted about where they were.

After getting back to the hotel, the team had some down time before going to dinner tonight to watch the NCAA tournament.

Go Broncos!
