Santa Clara to play at Iona in the CIT Championship Game

NOTE: THE MONDAY MORNING PEP RALLY HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO SANTA CLARA GOING STRAIGHT TO NYC FOR THE GAME.

With both advancing to the CollegeInsider.com Post-season Championship game, Santa Clara, 23-14, will play at Iona College, 25-11, on Wed., March 30 at 5 pm Pacific. Iona is located in New Rochelle, NY, 30 minutes north of New York City.

The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports with more information to come.  Santa Clara advanced with a 72-55 win at SMU on Friday and Iona won 83-80 at East Tennessee State on Saturday afternoon.

The team and coaches met early this morning and decided to stay in Dallas rather than spend two days traveling back and forth to the championship game (without knowing the championship site yet).  While some of the players spent time at the pool in 85 degree Dallas sunshine, others went on a tour of Dallas and its sports facilities or slept; and the coaches spent the afternoon watching Iona's win at ETSU.

The team will travel to the New York City area on Sunday afternoon.
