Kelly Funeral Arrangements Announced

Release on Ed Kelly's Passing from Mon., May 2

Ed Kelly '39, who passed away on Sat., April 30 after a recent surgery, volunteered at Santa Clara for more than 29 years.  After being associated with the Santa Clara community since his graduation 72 years ago, it is only fitting his funeral mass will be held at the Mission Church on the Santa Clara University campus.  In addition to funeral arrangements, the Bronco Bench Foundation announced Tuesday a scholarship fund has been set up in the name of Edward M Kelly and details follow below.

The memorial mass for Kelly, open to the public, will be held on Tues., May 10 at 2 pm in the Mission Church on the Santa Clara University campus.  More details will be forthcoming so please check back at www.SantaClaraBroncos.com.

"Kind, funny, a great dresser and always with a twinkle in his eye Ed was the first person to greet you as you arrived at work. Ed, as much as any athlete, represented what it means to be a Bronco," said BBF Director Rusty Weekes.  "He loved it when his Broncos won, his attitude was always positive and he had a good word for everybody he encountered. To say he will be missed is trite, to say he was beloved isn't enough.

"Ed, we loved you because you have done more than any creed could have done to make us good and more than any fate could have done to make us happy," added Weekes.
