Mikheil Khmiadashvili

Mikheil Khmiadashvili joined the Santa Clara University men’s tennis program in September 2017 as an assistant coach.

Khmiadashvili, a 2017 graduate of Butler University, was the 2017 BIG EAST Player of the Year and an All-BIG EAST selection as chosen by the league’s head coaches after posting a 25-7 singles record and a 22-7 record in doubles play.

The left-handed player led the Bulldogs to the 2017 BIG EAST Tournament title and to the NCAA Tournament.  In the conference tournament, he was named the Most Outstanding Player.

The Tbilisi, Georgia native was chosen to participate in the 2017 NCAA Doubles Championships along with teammate Mason Dragos, becoming the first Butler players to be selected for an NCAA individual championship event.  The duo reached No. 23 in the 2016-17 ITA doubles rankings, the highest in school history. 

Khmiadashvili achieved its highest ATP doubles ranking of 1089 and a singles ranking of 1855. 

The Georgian played his two seasons of collegiate tennis at Santa Clara before transferring to Butler where he graduated with a finance degree. 

Along with his coaching duties, Khmiadashvili is pursuing a masters degree in finance at Santa Clara.
