Amanda Brown was named assistant coach priopr to the 2013-14 season. Brown perviously served as Director of Women’s Basketball Operations since prior to the 2010-11 season. Brown came to SCU after spending a year in a similar role at Gonzaga University.

Brown has done a remarkable job during her three seasons at Santa Clara. She has helped run the day-to-day operations for a program that has seen its student-athletes garner local, regional and national recognition for their academic achievements and commitment to community service.

Honors and achievements by the program during her tenure thus far include: a league-best three players recognized on the 2012 WCC All-Academic Team (10 players post GPA's above 3.0); four players on the 2013 WCC All-Academic Team; SCU Bronco Athletics 'Community Service Team of the Year' in both 2011 and 2012; continued work with the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative (BAWSI); Breast Cancer Awareness efforts have included the annual Play 4Kay Game, and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk; given the 2012 READ award by Santa Clara University, an honor given by the SCU library, recognizing an on-campus group or individual that shows a passion for information literacy.

As the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations at GU, Brown achieved her NCAA Recruiting Certification and contributed in the program’s recruiting efforts while other staff members were on maternity leave. In 2009 she participated in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) ‘So You Want to be a Coach’ program.

As college athlete, Brown captained the Gonzaga team as a senior and helped the Bulldogs make three consecutive postseason tournament appearances as a three-year player from 2006-2009.

An excellent undergraduate student, Brown was recognized on Gonzaga University’s President’s List four times. She was part of GU’s peer mentoring program and the Gonzaga Athletes Mentoring for Excellence (G.A.M.E) initiative. She was also an active member of the Spokane community, volunteering at the Horizon Hospice and the Union Gospel Mission.

Brown gained additional professional experience working as an administrator at the Warehouse Athletic Facility in Spokane and as a research assistant in Gonzaga’s School of Professional Studies. 

A native of Sacramento, Brown graduated from Gonzaga with an English degree in May of 2009 and earned a M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga in 2011.
