HIGH SCHOOL: Enjoyed an outstanding prep career at Bakersfield’s Frontier High School … became the first player in Central Section history to advance to the CIF State Championship, played at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach … led Frontier to three straight Southwest Yosemite League (SWYL) titles … named a first team all-league and all-area player all four years of high school … named The Californian's Girls Golf Player of the Year as a senior, an award recognizing the top prep player in the San Joaquin Valley ... established new course records of 68 at Haggerty-North Kern and 67 at The Links at RiverLakes Ranch … posted a 74.7 stroke average as a senior, leading all area players and setting career scoring-average records for the Southern Section … won the 2011 Kern County Women's Amateur ... also named the Kern High School District Female Athlete of the Year, an award covering over 20-plus schools and all sports (it was the first time a golfer had ever won the award).

PERSONAL: Born in Bakersfield, Calif. … daughter of Michael and Michele Shain … has two older siblings, Jennifer and Chris … also excelled playing soccer and basketball before turning her full focus to golf … participated in dance recitals, choir and was selected for Frontier’s media team for two years as a producer, writer, anchor and reporter … excellent prep student, earning a spot on the honor roll in every quarter of high school … plans to pursue a teaching credential. She will be studying in the School of Arts and Science.
