Santa Clara, Calif.—Under the hot Bay Area sun this weekend, the Santa Clara women's tennis team dominated West Coast Conference rivals Gonzaga and Portland to capture two 6-1 wins. The Broncos end the final weekend of West Coast Conference play with an 11-10 overall record and finished 4-4 in the league.

On Saturday, April 21, the Bronco women defeated Gonzaga 6-1. Kelly Lamble and Kacie Wagner at the No. 2 doubles position and Stephanie Skaras and Brittany Warly at the No. 3 spot helped capture the doubles point.

Santa Clara then won five of the six singles matches. Notably, No. 49 Katie Le downed her opponent, Prudence Teitzel, by a score of 6-0, 6-1.

On Sunday, April 22, Portland put up a tough battle in the doubles matches, edging out Katie Le and Jessica Agra at the No. 1 position by a close score of 9-7. Santa Clara's other two doubles duos clinched the doubles point for the Broncos.

In singles, the highlight of the day was when senior Kacie Wagner won her last match in the Degheri Tennis Center in three sets, 6-1, 4-6 and 10-8 against Alice Tucker. It was a bittersweet moment for both Wagner and the rest of the Bronco team. 

Santa Clara will now take the momentum and confidence from these last two conference wins into the West Coast Conference Championships next week, starting on Wednesday, April 25 in San Diego, Calif.
