Broncos Fall on Road to Aggies; Balch Scores First Career Goal

Davis, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's water polo team fell 15-2 playing at the No. 15 UC Davis Aggies on Saturday. The Broncos will now take a two week break from competition in order to focus the end of the academic quarter. Last season, the Broncos placed eight on the All-WWPA Academic team.

After the Broncos earned an ejection in the fourth quarter, Claire Eadington cashed in on the man-up opportunity for Santa Clara. Nicolette Balch who has battling injuries all season appeared in her first collegiate game against Davis. Balch wasted no time scoring her first career goal in the fourth quarter.

Stephanie Clements and June Afshar split time in the cage. Clements added four blocks, including two on five-on-six opportunities for the Aggies in the second quarter. Afshar added three saves in the second half.

The Broncos will return to action after finals on Sunday, March 25th at home against Maryland. Santa Clara will then travel to the CSU Bakersfield tournament the following weekend.
