Broncos Drop Pair in Stockton

Stockton, Calif.- After Saturday's Alumni Game, the Santa Clara women's water polo team traveled to Stockton for their first official games after winter quarter finals.  The Broncos fell to Maryland in the morning 18-6. The Broncos trailed 3-1 after the first, but by halftime the Terripans had streached the lead to six. In the afternoon, Santa Clara fell to UC Davis 14-5.

Senior Marina Allen paced the Broncos with three goals on the day. Claire Eadington and Laura Espinosa each chipped in two goals while Kaitlin Murphy, Morgan Fornesi, and Meckenna Pezzuto scored one. Against Maryland, Melissa Chao scored her first career collegiate goal.

The Broncos will now prepare to play four conference games and a matchup with ranked Hartwick next week. All four games will be vital to Santa Clara's seeding in next month's Western Water Polo Association Conference Tournament in San Diego, Calif.
