Santa Clara, Calif.- After playing their final road game of 2013 at No. 10 San Jose St. this past weekend, the Broncos now begin a stretch in which they will play their final nine games at home in the Sullivan Aquatic Center, including three in the Western Water Polo Association Championships in late April. This weekend the Broncos will entertain Concordia University at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 27th followed by No. 4 UCLA at 4:00 p.m.

The Broncos are coming off of a 16-6 to the hands of their cross-town rival No. 10 San Jose St.  After the first eight minutes, Santa Clara found themselves trailing by five. However, Santa Clara did not go away countering with a 4-1 second quarter to pull them within two at the break. During the run, the Broncos offense was fueled by a pair of goals from Julia Peters (San Jose, Calif./ Presentation HS) and Alison Norris (Saratoga Calif./HS). In the second half, Santa Clara got goals from Kaitlin Murphy (Carlsbad, Calif./ Carlsbad HS) and Makena Pezzuto (Crockett, Calif./ St. Patrick-St. Vincent) but the Spartans were able to pull away.

The Broncos matchup against Concordia will be there third of the season. In the first two meetings this season, Santa Clara has edged Concordia by a total of four goals. Santa Clara defeated Concordia at the UCSB Winter Invite back on January 27th 11-9 before edging the Eagles 14-12 earlier this month at the UC Davis Aggie Shootout on March 2nd. 
The meeting with UCLA will be the Broncos first since February 12, 2011 at the UC San Diego Triton Invite. The Broncos fell 11-2 to the top ranked Bruins in that contest. 
Overtime

- Santa Clara will play their final 9 games at home at the Sullivan Aquatic Center with three of those games coming in the Western Water Polo Assocation Championships.  The Broncos have fared extremely well at home this season, posting a 5-2 record.

-Three of the top five goal scorers for Santa Clara are freshmen this season while the 2016 class has combined 41% (86 of 212) of the Broncos goals this season.

-In just 22 games this season, sophomore Kaitlin Murphy (Carlsbad, Calif.) has equaled her career high in earned ejections from last season (33).

-The Broncos have the last two WWPA Newcomer of the Year award winners on their squad. (Claire Eadington 2011, Ashleigh Bandimere 2012).
