Vincent Otoupal is in his first year as Assistant Vice President and Deputy Athletic Director for Development. He was hired in April 2022.

Otoupal grew up in Seattle and graduated from John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien. He earned all-state honors in football and baseball and was a Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.

Otoupal played outside linebacker for Stanford University in Palo Alto and was a four-year letterwinner (1989-92). He was named Phil Moffatt Special Teams Defensive Player of the Year in 1990, 1991, and 1992. Otoupal played for head coaches Jack Elway, Denny Green, and Bill Walsh. During his junior year he was elected President of Stanford’s Sigma Nu Fraternity. He played Rugby his senior year for Stanford coach Franck Boivert.

Following graduation from Stanford, where he majored in Political Science and Organizational Behavior, Otoupal joined the United States Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Captain.  He was an Infantry Officer based in 29 Palms California with Second Battalion Seventh Marines. Otoupal was awarded an Honorable Discharge and the Marine Corps’ Certificate of Commendation and was a Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Following his years of service in the Corps, Otoupal earned his M.B.A. from the University of Oregon, attending the prestigious Warsaw Sports  Marketing Center.

Prior to joining Santa Clara, Otoupal was at the PAC-12’s University of Utah where he was the Director of Development for Major Gifts. While there he oversaw annual, planned, and major gifts while also developing goals and strategies for fundraising campaigns – most notably the Rice-Eccles Stadium South End Zone Expansion and the Dumke Gymnastics Building Expansion.

Otoupal's long history in college athletics includes serving as Director of Athletics at Utah Valley University from 2013-19 and Cal State Monterey Bay from 2008-13.

The Otoupal family has ties in the Bay Area. Otoupal worked at San Jose State from 2005-08 and at his alma mater Stanford from 2001-05. Brady, Vince’s wife, grew up in Silicon Valley and went to St. Francis High School in Mountain View. Brady’s brother, Brent Brennan, is the San Jose State head football coach. Brady’s parents met at SJSU. The Otoupals oldest son, Zach, was born at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose in 2008. 

Prior to his career in athletics, Otoupal worked at Intel and States Industries Wood Products from 1998-2001.

Vince and his wife Brady are the proud parents of three children – Zach, Annie, and Jake.
