Matt Penland is in his first year as the Associate Athletic Director, Media Relations at Santa Clara University. In addition to his duties as the department's media relations liason, he currently serves as the primary media relations contact for the Broncos' men's basketball, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's water polo programs.
Penland first joined the SCU Athletics media relations staff in November 2021. Prior to that, he worked as an assistant director of media relations under Lawrence Fan at San Jose State since 2018.
A native of Weaver Ala., Penland first came to the Bay Area by way of Auburn University where he served as both an undergraduate student assistant and communications assistant from 2014-18.
Penland graduated from Auburn with a bachelor's degree in communication in 2017. He currently resides in San Jose.
