May 17, 2013 - Cross Country Oliver Qualifies For NCAA West Region 10K! Double-Major Carries 3.97 GPA As SCU's Second-Ever NCAA Track Qualifier Proving to be a college student first with a 3.97 grade point average as a double major, Santa Clara senior trackster Kevin Oliver became just the second-ever NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary qualifier today. Oliver, who ran a personal best 29.47.08 in the 10,000m to qualify, will compete in the prelims of the NCAA West Region Championships in Austin, Texas May 23-25. May 13, 2013 - Cross Country Broncos Close Out Regular Season Track With Many Personal Bests, School Record The Santa Clara University Track team wrapped up its regular season last weekend at the West Coast Invite at Willamette University. Senior Kevin Oliver continued his outstanding season with another personal best and another school record, covering 3.1 miles of the track in 14:27.81 seconds. The women head into the summer capping off one of its most successful track seasons in school history as the women added new marks to every event top 10 list from 800 meters through 10k. [more]

Sac Relays; Broncos Run Well at Woody Wilson Invite Santa Clara senior Kevin Oliver, making his season debut in the 10,000 meter race, made yet another mark on the track school record list by taking down the longest standing mark on the books with an impressive performance, running 29:47.08, at Mt. Jul 10, 2012 - Cross Country Bronco Harrier Works to Design Bamboo Housing in Haiti Chris Sampson’s senior project was not the typical research paper or in-depth project that is merely for the benefit of the student. As a civil engineering major who would graduate in June of 2012, Sampson’s senior design project was for the benefit of those in need. With many parts of the world in dire need of sustainable and cost-effective housing that will survive natural disasters, the Bronco cross country student-athlete came to the conclusion that his skills would be best utilized assisting others. Along with his partner Jake Echeverria, the two Santa Clarans developed a design for bamboo housing in Haiti. [more]

May 14, 2012 - Cross Country Wilder Enjoys Coaching and Running on the Mainland Chantelle Wilder recently moved to California from Hawai’i to pursue a career in coaching cross country. Starting off coaching girls cross country at Los Gatos High School, Wilder is now in her second year of coaching at the collegiate level at Santa Clara University as an assistant coach with Bronco cross country and track. Following along with Santa Clara’s strong community service focus in the athletic department, both teams jumped on the bandwagon in March and had a fantastic time. Santa Clara University Athletics and Recreation are gearing up for the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day, Sun., April 22 with a number of active participants, including the Malley Center on the SCU campus. Just in time, the Malley Center's weight room is becoming a lot greener. Mar 2, 2012 - Track & Field Meet the Rising Bronco Student-Athlete, Ben Demaree One of the Bronco student-athletes to watch in the spring of 2012 is the sophomore track athlete, Ben Demaree. He finished the 2011 cross country season by consistently earning the top two spots on the Bronco team in every race that he participated in. He was named All-WCC after finishing 13th at the WCC Championships in late October. In addition to being one of the top cross country runners last fall, he is also an excellent student. Demaree carries a 3.940 as a Bio-Engineering major; and the men’s cross country team posted the highest GPA at 3.55 for the Fall 2011 quarter for the third straight quarter. Jul 6, 2011 - Volleyball SCU Places Record Number on 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll With the conclusion of the 2010-11 academic year, the West Coast Conference is proud to announce the 10th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes those student-athletes that possess at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. A record number 122 Bronco student-athletes made the list, besting last year's mark of 118. Santa Clara had 21 on the Gold list, 21 on the Silver list and 80 on the Bronze list. Temperatures in the mid 80's provided excellent conditions for the middle distance events, but made things difficult for those athletes competing in the longer events. Apr 11, 2011 - Cross Country Bronco Student-Athletes Post 3.0+ GPA for 12th time in 13 quarters With almost one-third of the student-athletes posting a 3.5 or better, Santa Clara University's student-athletes posted a 3.047 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2011 quarter. Santa Clara's student-athletes have achieved a 3.0 GPA or better 12 of the last 13 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.081. For the second straight quarter, the women's cross country team (right) led all teams with a 3.406 GPA for the Winter 2011 term – the exact same GPA it recorded for the Fall 2010 term as well. [more]

This weekend the Broncos will run at the UC Davis Open on Sat., March 12. Next weekend runners not still finishing finals, which are next week, will run at the Hornet Invite Sat., March 19. Finally, the full compliment of Bronco runners will take to the track to run either at the San Francisco Distance Carnival March 25 and 26 with a select number of runners who qualify running at the Stanford Invitational the same dates. Oct 30, 2010 - Cross Country Harrier Men Third, Women Fourth at WCC Championship The Santa Clara men finished third at the 2010 WCC Cross Country Championships in Crystal Springs, Calif. and the women were fourth on Saturday. Oct 12, 2010 - Cross Country Cross Country Hosts Bronco Invite Saturday Hosting a field of 31 teams from seven states, the Bronco Invitational Cross Country meet on Sat., Oct. 16 is the biggest and brightest field in school history. The Bronco Invite, which is free to the public, will be run at Baylands Park in Santa Clara, Calif. and will include five WCC schools, Cal, Stanford, UCLA, Lamar, Chico State and a number of other Big West and WAC schools. It is one of the largest cross country races in the nation with over 50 Universities and over 2400 High School students racing during the day. Late Sept.
