FRESHMAN (2010): Started 40 games as a true freshman … Made 27 starts at third base and 13 second base …Posted a .283 batting average for the season… Had 12 multiple-hit games...Finished the year with 26 RBI, with 5 multiple-RBI games… Enjoyed a season-high seven-game hit streak from April 6 through May 5, going 12-for-26 (.462 BA) …  Recorded a season-high four RBI in an 11-10 win over Albany (3/30)… Successfully stole 6 bases on 8 attempts… Defensively, had a .982 fielding percentage, while being apart of 11 double plays for the Broncos.

HIGH SCHOOL: 2009 graduate of Santa Margarita Catholic High School and three-year varsity letter-winner for the Eagles' baseball team ... hit .367 and posted an on-base percentage of .431 playing primarily at second base as a senior ... also scored 20 runs in 27 games as a senior en route to earning All-Trinity League honors for the third straight season ... named to the Anaheim Lions All-Tournament Team in April of 2009 ... led the Eagles in batting average (.337) as a junior.

PERSONAL: Born in Loma Linda, Calif. as the son of Frank and Mary Leyva ... has two siblings, Jeff and Danielle ... father, Frank, played baseball at UCLA ... enjoys travel and scuba diving ... chose to attend Santa Clara because of the academics, coaches and facilities ... majoring in Political Science.
