ATHLETIC EXPERIENCE: In his first year with the SCU Baseball team as a freshman in 2014-15 … in 2013, posted a .526 batting average and a .640 on-base percentage … First Team All-Diablo Valley Athletic League honors … finished 22-5 (11-1 DVAL) in his junior season … allowed more than two runs just five times in 27 games … reached the semifinals of the 16-team North Coast Section Baseball Tournament … was named to the 2013 All-Bay Area World Series First Team and earned the event’s Most Outstanding Defender award … hit .478 with a .584 on-base percentage as a sophomore in 2012 in split time between the junior varsity and varsity teams … in 2011 notched a perfect 23-0 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Clayton Valley Charter High School in 2014 in Concord, Calif. … played for baseball coach Casey Coakley … played for water polo coach Nick Ballew … scored a combined 74 goals in water polo between his junior and senior seasons.

PERSONAL: Son of Philip and Deborah Meylan … has one younger brother, Scott … Mom was a catcher for Saint Mary’s softball … great uncle Jim McAnany won the 1959 World Series as a centerfielder with the Chicago With Sox … uncle John Arata played volleyball at UC Irvine … second cousin Michelle McAnany was a four-time All-American for CSU Northridge softball … second cousin Tim Layana pitched for Loyola Marymount and the Cincinnati Reds … cousins Chris, Keith and Dan Malloy are professional surfers … hobbies include skiing, making movies with his GoPro, music and friends … member of the Public Service Academy … intends to study business at Santa Clara.

His personality and family pedigree make him exactly what we were looking for from a guy who could start in center field for us right away.”
