Santa Clara, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's water polo team continued their strong offensive play by defeating the Santa Clara alumni team 15-13 on Saturday afternoon in a match which featured Broncos from the last two generations. In 2006, the Jeff "Paco" Kopacek Alumni game drew more alumni than ever before.
"What a wonderful day today was", said head coach Keith Wilbur. "There were so many people here, and they got to see a great game. The post-game barbecue was a nice event for all of the families and, overall, it was just a fun day."
The Broncos again demonstrated their talent on offense with ten players scoring goals, and four of those scoring multiple times. Today's leader was Liam Farrell, notching three goals, followed by Mike Detoy, Jack Wall, and Tom Hendrickson, who each contributed two.
On the Alumni side of the pool, Jay Moorhead '02 and Dan O'Connell '02 contributed two goals each with goals also coming from Geiffrey Phillips '81, Mark Oda '05, and Grant Allison '06, among others.
With today's event under their belts, the Bronco's return to action this weekend beginning on September 16th as they enter the NorCal Tournament from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.
