Men's Track & Field Has Five Qualify for NCAA West Prelims

SANTA CLARA, Calif.  – Five student-athletes from Santa Clara men's track & field have qualified for the NCAA West Prelims which will be held May 24-27 in Sacramento. A full schedule can be found here. Details about how to watch and follow will be posted later in the week.

Alex Scales will compete in the 800m, Nicholas Russell in the 5000m and 10000m, Ian Twyman in the 10000m, and Alex Miley and Harvey Chilcott in the 3000m steeplechase.

"It's exciting for the team to continue to have a presence at the NCAA meet," Santa Clara head coach Felipe Montoro said. "I'm really proud of these guys and their teammates for all the effort that goes into creating an environment for that to be possible. I'm excited to see how many more we can qualify in the coming years."

This is the third year in a row Scales has qualified in the 800. Chilcott qualified for the second time in 3000 steeplechase after making it in 2021. Russell also made the 10000m last years. This will be his first time in 5000m. Miley was in the 3000 steeplechase in 2019 and 2021 at Duke in the East Prelims.
