SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior guard Becki Ashbaugh of the Santa Clara University women's basketball team was named to the All-West Coast Conference first team, the league announced today. Additionally, senior guard Caroline Gruening and junior forward Tammy Annas received All-WCC honorable mention honors.

Ashbaugh, a Verizon Academic All-District VIII third team member a four-time WWC All-Academic honoree from Bellevue, Wash., is ranked seventh nationally in assists, averaging a league-high 7.1 per contest. She broke the school record last Thursday in becoming the first Bronco to surpass the 600-assist milestone. Ashbaugh is also ranked in free throw percentage, as her 87.1 percent mark lists her 14th in the NCAA. She received honorable mention honors from the league the last two seasons.

Gruening, a Verizon Academic All-District VIII second team and two-time WWC All-Academic team member from Juneau, Alaska, shut down her opposition to six points under their scoring average in 15 games this year. Offensively, she is ranked 11th nationally in three-point field goal percentage, at 45.1 percent, hitting 60 of 133 from long distance. This marks her second straight selection to the conference's honorable mention squad.

Annas' selection marks her first to the league honor roll. The only player to start every game this season, she leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per contest. She was named the MVP of the Seattle Times Husky Classic and has also earned WCC/Rawlings Player of the Week honors.

Joining Ashbaugh on the first team is Bryn Britton (LMU), Jerkisha Dosty (SMC), Jermisha Dosty (SMC), Damaris Hinojosa (PEP), Nadja Morgan (PEP), Kate Murray (LMU), Carey Sauer (USF), Tami Standish (PORT), and Da'Love Woods (PORT).

Joining Annas and Gruening in receiving honorable mention recognition is Jessica Malone (GON), Sarah Richen (PEP), Khalila O'Rielly-Williams (PORT), Katie Davis (SMC), Erin Malich (USD), Kerri Nakamoto (USD), and Lindsay Huff (USF).

Jerkisha Dosty earned Player of the Year honors while her sister Jermisha was named the Defender of the Year. Toni Russell of San Francisco was named the Freshman of the Year while Pepperdine's Mark Trakh was named the Coach of the Year.

The Broncos earned the second seed in the upcoming West Coast Conference Championship and will play San Diego on Thursday at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego at 6 p.m. The Broncos finished the regular season 19-8 overall, 9-5 in the league with a victory over regular season WCC champion Pepperdine to close out the home schedule with a perfect 12-0 mark.

The tournament continues through March 4, with the women's semifinal games beginning March 1 at 6 p.m., with the championship slated for a 2:30 p.m. start on March 3. The title contest will air live on Fox Sports West, KRON and Action Sports.
