Three Named All-West Region for Women's Soccer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Santa Clara women's soccer had a trio named to the All-West Region teams on Tuesday. Senior Izzy D'Aquila was named to the first team with sophomore Colby Barnett and freshman Annie Karich on the second team.

D'Aquila carried the Broncos on her shoulders most of the season, setting career-highs with 19 goals and 43 points. Those numbers were fifth and tied for eighth in a single season in program history. She also finished her career with 50 goals, just the seventh Bronco to reach the milestone. Her 116 career points are ninth all-time.

D'Aquila went on an unbelievable run this season, nabbing WCC Offensive Player of the Week three times in a row. She scored in six matches in a row to start conference play, including a four-goal game against San Francisco and a hat trick against Pacific. It was just the third time in Santa Clara history a player has scored in at least six consecutive matches. She is tied with Sofia Huerta (6, 2013) and trails only Mandy Clemens (9, 1999), and Brandi Chastain (15, 1990).

This is D'Aquila's second first team honor, joining her nod in 2020. She was on the second team last season and as a freshman in 2019. She was the WCC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-WCC for the third year in a row.

Barnett finished the season tied for the team lead with eight assists and added a pair of goals. Both goals were huge in Santa Clara's run to its third straight WCC title as she scored the game-tying goal vs. Saint Mary's and had the game-winner at San Diego as the Broncos went unbeaten in league action for the third time in the last four years.

Barnett was named Second Team All-WCC earlier this year after nabbing All-Freshman honors a season ago.

After missing the first game of the season while with the U20 US National Team, Karich came in as a sub in her collegiate debut and then started team's final 19 matches. She tied Barnett with eight assists, including one on each goal in the Broncos come-from-behind win at Pepperdine to clinch to league title and one on the lone tally in Santa Clara's thrilling win over Cal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Karich was named the WCC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-WCC, and WCC All-Freshman.
