SACRAMENTO - The Santa Clara men's and women's crew teams had a strong showing at the UC Davis Rowing Invitational on Sunday, March 8. Both the men's and women's Varsity Four squads compiled the best finishes as the Bronco men earned first place and the women took second.
The Bronco men won the Varsity Four with a time of 6:46.9. SCU also had six second place finishes. In the Varsity Eight race, Santa Clara finished just 4.5 seconds behind first place UC Davis. SCU also had a close call in the Varsity Lightweight Four as the Broncos (6:51.3) crossed the line 3.6 seconds behind Cal (6:47.7).
The women had their best finish of the day in the Varsity Four as the Broncos too second place. SCU finished 27.63 seconds behind UC Davis (8:00.24). Santa Clara also earned third place finishes in the Varsity Eight and Novice Eight. In the varsity race, the Broncos finished with a time of 7:41.85. In the novice race, SCU clocked in at 8:22.39.
The Broncos return to action on Saturday, March 14 at the Sacramento State Invitational at Lake Natoma.
