WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Santa Clara men's rowing was at the IRA National Championships, finishing Sunday to close out the season.

"Overall, this was a good IRA Championship for us and we got a lot of our younger guys some very valuable racing experience. Until you get to the IRA Championship, it is very difficult to truly appreciate the upper end speed and talent of the best crews in the country. This should provide great motivation for summer training and into next year."

"The V8 has struggled to find the speed it had earlier in May at the WIRA Championship. It is not from a lack of effort - we have lacked consistency on the lake and that can get into your head a bit.  The final on Sunday got off well for us but we were unable to hold on to our pacing through the second half of the race and that led to a disappointing result for our top boat."

"The 2V8 had a tremendous finals Sunday finishing first in the D level final and placing 19th in the country. This group has really come together to finish out a historic year for our 2V8. We got off the line well and established ourselves early and held off a very aggressive late charge from Oregon State. The guys responded to the late press by OSU and had enough left in the tank to get to the line first. An outstanding effort."
