SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Following a weekend in which he scored both of the Broncos' game-winning goals, Santa Clara University junior Keith DeVey has been named to several national teams of the week and was named the National Player of the Week by Soccer America Magazine.
Soccer America, College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer all recognized the achievements of the Kula, Hawai'i native as members of their national teams of the week. Earlier in the week, DeVey was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
DeVey, who has 10 goals in his career at SCU, scored with less than three minutes remaining to give the Broncos a 3-2 win over previously second-ranked UCLA in Fullerton, Calif. Five of DeVey's 10 career goals have been game-winners.
Two days later against the host Titans, he struck again with less than five minutes remaining on the clock for the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win.
Following the two wins over the weekend, Santa Clara moved into as high as fourth in the national polls. The Broncos play at the University of Maryland this weekend, facing the host Terrapins on Friday and Georgetown on Sunday.
Santa Clara opens its home season Sept. 16 against Stanford in a South Bay rivaly match billed as a "Super Classico." For tickets, call 408/554-4660 or click here.
