"Brett is incredibly passionate and committed," head coach George Husack described. "Since his arrival last season, he has fully integrated himself into our program and Santa Clara University. The dedication and competitive spirit he portrayed as a collegiate player is truly reflective in his coaching style and we're very fortunate to have him on campus. He has built a strong professional and social rapport with the players and places a high value on the camaraderie he shares with them. He also continuously seeks to learn more and develop from this experience. He's a solid Bronco."
Masi is one of the Mustangs' winningest tennis players of all time, concluding his career with a 60-29 record and peaking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll with a No. 38 national ranking.
"I am ecstatic about this upcoming season," Masi said. "we made some great additions this fall, and these new guys, along with our returning starters, are going to make us a huge contender for the WCC Championship in April."
In addition to his coaching duties, Masi serves as the Club Sports Coordinator and Bronco Kidz All Sports Camp Director for the Pat Malley Fitness & Recreation Department.
A native of Riverside, Masi went 12-5 his freshman season, going a perfect 5-0 at the No. 3 position. As a sophomore, he moved up to the second singles slot, where he went 8-6. Masi closed out his junior campaign on a 14-match winning streak, finishing with a 20-7 overall record and a spot on the All-Big West Second Team. Masi's senior campaign included an 18-7 mark while winning eight of his last 10 matches. That same season, Masi defeated Pepperdine's Robert Kendrick, who was ranked fifth in the country at the time.
Masi is single and resides in Cupertino.
