SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2009-10 season. A date with the University of Utah, scheduled for Saturday, November 29, marks the official home-opener and road games at the University of Iowa, the University of Oregon and the University of Minnesota highlight the Broncos' 14-game non-conference schedule before West Coast Conference play begins Friday, January 8.

"We need our non-conference schedule to prepare us for WCC play," said Santa Clara Head Coach Jennifer Mountain. "We are trying to play a schedule that allows us to be as successful as possible, while also exposing our players to differences in size and styles of play."

Mountain, now in her second season as Santa Clara head coach, is in the process of establishing the Broncos as a WCC Championship contender and NCAA Tournament qualifier - a feat last accomplished at SCU in 2005.

"We are going to have a young team and a number of fresh faces on our roster," said Mountain. "Competing at the highest level, against some of the premier conferences in the country is a great opportunity to see where we match up at this point and see where we really need to improve heading into WCC play."

Following a pair of exhibition games in early November, the season begins Saturday, November 14, at the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa, City. The Broncos will play host Iowa and either UCLA or Illinois State University then prepare for a trip to the Northwest for a game with Oregon Tuesday, November 24 in Eugene.

A four-game homestand in late November through early December brings Utah, UC Davis, the University of South Dakota and Cal State Bakersfield to the Broncos' Leavey Center, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara campus.

A stretch of nine games (seven on the road) in less than a month takes SCU to play at Minnesota Wednesday, December 16 and at West Virginia University Wednesday, December 30.

The WCC home-opener is set for Thursday, January 14 against Pepperdine University, the first of three-straight WCC home games and initiating a near two-month stretch to close out the year playing exclusively within the league.

The SCU athletics department is offering a series of ticket specials for the 14-game home schedule. Season ticket packages start at just $50 for adults and $25 for youth and seniors. Season ticket reserved seating is new for 2009-10 and is being offered at the low price of $75 for the entire season. To purchase tickets or for more information contact 408-554-4660.
