LONG BEACH, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball wrapped up its LA trip with a 5-0 loss against No. 12 Long Beach State Saturday morning at the LBSU Sand Courts. 

The Beach (3-0) won in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 positions. Gretchen Reinert/Julia Sangiacomo took their opening set at the second spot for the Broncos (0-9) and Elizabeth Held/Alex Anthony claimed a long second set 25-23 at the fourth position.

Santa Clara plays its first of two home matches for the 2020 season Wednesday against Pacific at 3 p.m.

"We competed pretty well against a top-ranked team today and forced some tiebreak matches," associate head coach Jeff Alzina said. "Most importantly, our team got some quality experience playing in strong headwinds that we'll see in all our weekend tournaments on real beaches in the coming weeks."
