SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Michelle Shaffer and Alexia Inman won both their matches at No. 1 to help Santa Clara beach volleyball to a split on Friday at the Hornet Beach on the campus of Sacramento State.  The Broncos lost the first game to Boise State 4-1 in a neutral site match before downing host Sacramento State 4-1. 

Match 1: Boise State 4 – Santa Clara 1

In a battle of the Broncos, it was Boise State (17-8) who came up on top 4-1.  Boise State picked up the first two points at No. 3 and No. 4 before Santa Clara's No. 1 tandem of Shaffer and Inman got them on board with a 21-16, 21-17 victory over Erin Martin and Yasmin Tan. 

With Boise State up 2-1 on the team score, Rorianna Chartier and Sierra Land clinched the match at No. 2 over Casey Campbell and Julia Sangiacomo 21-14, 21-12.  

Santa Clara dropped its record to 6-14.  

Match 2: Santa Clara 4 - Sacramento State 1

Santa Clara (7-14) snapped its six-match losing straight with a 4-1 win over Sacramento State in the second match of the afternoon.  

Sacramento State (4-13) picked up the first win at No. 3 but the Broncos swept the remaining matches with the clincher by No. 2 pairs Campbell and Sangiacomo over Kalani Hayes and Macey Hayden 21-18, 21-16.
