Final Stats

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Santa Clara University junior Julie Ryder registered her second-straight shutout and the Broncos remained undefeated to open the season after a 0-0 draw at 17th-ranked Wake Forest Friday in the Wake Forest ACC/WCC Challenge at W. Dennie Spry Stadium.

The Broncos move to 1-0-1 on the season, while the Demon Deacons go to 2-0-1. The two teams will each be in action on Sunday with Santa Clara facing Virginia Tech at 8:30 a.m. (Pacific) and host Wake Forest playing San Diego.

Ryder, a preseason All-America selection from DeKalb, Ill. earned the win with six saves, including two in the match's second overtime period. She earned her seond shutout of the season and the 35th of her career, just six shy of school record-holder Crystal Gordan (1997-00).

Santa Clara registered nine shots in the game, but only two were on frame. The Bronco defense survived a five-shot barrage from the Demon Deacons in the second overtime period to maintain the draw.

Offensively, Jordan Angeli registered three shots in the game, while Tina Estrada and Courtney Lewis had two apiece.

Following Sunday's game, Santa Clara returns home for a much-anticipated Friday night matchup against top-ranked Notre Dame. Click here to purchase tickets.
